here’s the iji album! too!
last night we played with mandarin dynasty and some of his friends. the moose lodge is a great venue to have a birthday become. my ex-step sister, lillian, drove up with a friend to see us. the crowd was sparse, and we played like we were drunk, but in love. we were neither. okay okay, we were both. i did not get to see harry potter on opening night, but i’ve become “okay’ with that. i’m really pumped to be heading east. our show tonight at super happy fun land should be great and then we’ll be in new orleans for the first time ever! whoa. hot sauce library starting point!
last night was one of the best drives in history. our feet out the windows and classic rock/oldies stations howling our life stories over and over. we screamed and spotted ufos. we had beetle to hand collisions and bats zoomed around the car, and one into my foot. eventually we stopped the car because derek had to pee on the side of the road. dead engine, and everything quiet. the moon was thick, bright orange and we couldn’t help making up creatures that could have possibly climbed out of the brush and made horror films out of the sundance kids. later switching drivers, we starting sincerely started signing christmas carols; el paso to santa fe. on the fourth day of christmas derek ended up killing a small animal, but after a small debate on what it could have been (bag, tire, opossum, armadillo, rat) we continued to sing.
arizona was remarkably hot, but we were really pumped to play the trunk space. we befriended some some of the coolest kids around there, one of whom decided to take us to tucson and have us play another show at the hang art. cacti are the best.
i didn’t forget to talk about california, we were just too crazy busy battling the ocean with our new besties, backpack. they’re reason enough to make the long drive down the coast from olympia to santa barbara (which is in the planning stages now) again, and often. so much ocean, so much backpack; we miss you!
we’ve been staying with really amazing people in really amazing homes. right now we’re pooping in an adobe castle with multiple lofts, every-room fireplaces, spanish wood, and desert themed stained glass windows. when i walked in i felt like i was in oblivion, a master thief and head mages of the guild.
so much is perfect. it’s like christmas time! i really miss iji.
morning in sacramento, afternoon/morning san fransisco

this tour starts: seattle 07.04.09 i stepped out of the band for a few hours to drive up to seattle early to hang with our best sister, iji. they were busy scrambling to start their tour the next day, but we managed to find stone cat, ufo, perfumeed bubble teas, love, and jams. the day was a starry, yellow build up to the show later that night at ‘dancylvania,’ on capital hill. we played and celebrated the fourth with jason clackley, backpack, watercolor paintings, and iji. the show was epic, and brim-wrought with explosives in the background.
sacramento 07.05.09 woke up at 4:30 a.m. sunday, trying to hit the road at 5:00 in hopes of getting to sacremento before our show. many naps, many hours, thrift run in corvallis, secret of the ooze soundtrack, derek started to read ‘the shining’ which (so far) turns out to be one of the crappiest reads, girl crazy!, mountain. the show was at a great space called “the hub” and met up with margy pepper (http://www.myspace.com/margypepper) the olympia band we’re starting our tour with. we had to get tacos and tampons so we walked in some wrong directions for a bit, screaming, rapping and dancing. slept well, slept long.
07.06.09 genaro (rad dude, gave us his house and cats and fender rhodes to subpoena household owl art towards soothing night dreams) made a mega, emeril-inspired waffel and homefry breakfast, SO THANK YOU! booty club, booty benifactor? erica’s a “nut”.
here are some shots from seattle and sacramento (where we met up with margy pepper).
